SAMC Organizational Chart

The Swiss Aid for Mother and Child (SAMC) was founded on August 31, 2001 as a non-profit, independent, and tax-exempt foundation. It was established by the Association Mamma (formerly known as the Verein Schweizerische Hilfe für Mutter und Kind, translated: Association Swiss Aid for Mother and Child), which then created the foundation with the aim of establishing a permanent, transparent structure for aid work. Since then, there has been a clear separation of roles: the association focuses politically, and on a general level, on improving the situation of women in Switzerland – for example, by raising awareness of societal issues related to motherhood and family. The SAMC, on the other hand, is dedicated exclusively to concrete, individual assistance for pregnant women, couples and families experiencing difficulties. This includes free counseling, direct financial assistance, and practical support to open up prospects for a life with the child – without any political activity or outsourcing of such activities.

* The Foundation’s Board of Trustees, as the highest governing body, ensures strategic management and internal controls, e.g. through regular reviews of processes. The websites controlled by the SAMC are listed at the bottom of the website samc-foundation.ch.

** The APR (Abortion Pill Reversal) network of doctors is an external network of specialists who specialize in neutralizing the effects of the abortion pill (e.g. through progesterone). The SHMK acts solely as an intermediary in this regard: individuals who contact the SAMC after taking the abortion pill are referred directly to qualified physicians who have the necessary medical expertise to care for those affected. The SAMC does not provide any medical services and is not responsible for medical treatment. The dotted line symbolizes the external, cooperative nature of the position of the SAMC in this regard, which has no authority to issue instructions.

*** The relationship between the foundation and the association is governed by a limited, transparent mandate: the association provides administrative support to the foundation without influencing its operational work or decisions. This mandate serves the purpose of efficiency (e.g. shared secretary’s office) and is regularly reviewed by the Foundation Board to maintain independence. There is no outsourcing of political activities; the SAMC remains strictly apolitical and focused on individual assistance that complies with the legal and ethical standards of Switzerland.
